in the version 1.2 I have encountered with the problem of not having multiple UOM Unit of Measures for both purchase and Sale. In normal retail operations of Groceries, Purchases happens in different UOM than Sales. Does RMS have any kind of such activity attached which is hidden right now.

Take a look at Parent/Child relationships. It's probably not as clean as you would like it to be. Grocery is not a really strong fit for RMS, although it is being used very successfully in many grocery stores.
We have done the UOM for purchasing and a lot more to enhance purchase module [RR Advanced Purchase Order Module]. We are also now working on our existing Store Misc Utility to add the UOM for selling and also a piece calculator [when buying tiles you can see how many is required to do a romm of xx SQ ft].
