If he indeed changed the password before he left then asking him is a moot point. Your best bet is to google "QuickBooks Passwords" and go from there. Since you are in a church there is always the man upstairs.

I'm sure you have a lawyer in your congregation. Get HIM to ask the former administrator. In so doing, the lawyer can make it clear that substantial risks exist toward the administrator's assets and liberty.

Is the cheap price the dozens of companies ask for PW recovery even worth an hour of lawyer's fee? NO. The lawyer will charge more.

QB passwords are among the least secure in the world.

True, but you wouldn't get the satisfaction of seeing the culprit turned out with her children, tears freezing before they hit the ground, and the snow marked with the blood of their unshorn feet. You wouldn't get to hear the lamentations of the afflicted, and revel in the anguish. You would not be able to smile knowing that the prior administrator was doomed to wander the land, endlessly in search of succor that will never come.

This is a church, after all.

I don't even write proposals for churches anymore. They always ask for freebies no matter how wealthy the church. When I was a beginning contractor living on balogna sandwiches I never got any work from them. Now that I am a successful contractor why would I do anything for them. They are just people. I put cash in the collection plate on Sunday at the church I attend, and I make donations to real local charities where it will do the most good.

I recently had the same issue with the Admin password, thru an online forum for QuickBooks users I found a recommended software program, I paid $64 and it worked perfectly, it removed the password allowing access to QuickBooks to set a new one. Click on forgot password at the login..you may guess the guys password verification hint. If not intuit has a password recovery tool you can download (you need the Lic info)
