Credit Card RCPT

Ok Folks, I've had some weird problems but this one takes it. I'm using QB 2007 Pro with Intuit merchant services. Forever, when I run a credit card QB prints a "RCPT" with a "Quickbooks Trans No". This morning I sat down to run last week's deposits and discovered that the last few days this RCPT number was blank. The words "Quickbooks Trans No" are there but there is no number.

I called QB, they didn't know and told me to call Merchant Service, they didn't know. So, I'm not lost without this "Quickbooks Trans No" but life is a helluva lot easier with it. I've looked all over for a solution to this mystery. Anyone have any idea? Tnx, Dusty

Yes, you didn't assign one.

I noticed a change recently. In the past it seems a random number was assigned. Now it seems to take the value of the memo field for the number. Blank memo blank transaction number.

Suggestion, enter the invoice number in the memo fields.

Nope, I entered a number in the memo field and when printed there was no number. Just as an aside, the number I'm refering to was not a random number, it was sequential. Each credit card transaction was assigned the next number in the "Quickbooks Trans No" field. From what I can tell this number quit printing right around 8/26 or so.

Don't use CC's so no direct input but some other fields seem to be dependent on previous value in the field (previous transaction).

Try entering a value manually and then see if it will increment from there again automagically.

Are you refering to the Transaction ID?

Try selecting Customers>>Credit Card Processing activities>>Manage Merchant service and run a basic search on a recent date range. Is the Transaction ID filled for all transactions in that time frame?

This is not a field that takes any input. This is a field that has always (been using it for several years)been assigned by the system, just a sequential number used to match up RCPTs with entries in the "Make Deposits" Window. I'm stumped

No, this is a field on the merchants copy of the credit card receipt. The field has the header "Quickbooks Trans No". It simply a sequential number on each credit card transaction. It also used to appear in the "make deposits" window on the corresponding line entry. That entry is also no longer there. I did nothing (that I know of) to change this

I'll probably have a cc payment to process this week and I'll make a note to look at the screen carefully when I process it.

I do know that I have NEVER had a transaction number flow onto the Make deposits line when completing the cc deposit so I don't know where this is coming from.

Well, I said I'd never used cc's... :)

I'd only guess you got the "benefits" of an update that changed behavior then. I quit updating as well quite some time ago so don't know if you can roll back any more or not...

Then can we all assume you are still running a DOS version of Qucikbooks.

I see this number on my CC receipts and it does show in the Make Deposits screen.

The number is the "Sale No" from the upper right corner of the Sales Receipt screen.

Just looked at mine and the number corresponds to the sales receipt number. Did you start a new custom receipt and not assign a number ?

OP probably wiped out number on a receipt and all subsequest receipts will not have a number.

Yup, that's it I knew it was gonna be something stupid. Thanks Everyone, Dusty
