Credit Card settlement vs auth

Has anybody else had a problem with credit cards being authorized fine at the time of a sale but when it goes to settlement, it says settled but then you get a notice from your merchant provider a few weeks later saying it didn't go through? I've gone back and forth with the merchant asking why it would obtain an authorization if it was a bad card number. They said the card number comes through fine when being authorized, but when the settlement gets processed, the card number has a + sign in front of it and therefore comes back as a bad card. There's no rhyme or reason to this, as a matter of fact we had two transactions with the same credit card in one batch. One of them went through settlement fine, and the second one didn't.

Was just wondering if anybody else has seen this issue of if there are any other suggestions other than placing an incident with Microsoft.

will select the full amount for the credit card tender type and the second will remain in the keyboard buffer, the card is swiped and processed, but RMS picks up the second + and stores it along with the card number in the database.
