HELP!!! C=342!!

My company is having an extremely difficult time getting rid of a C42 error in our Quickbooks Enterprise Solutions 5.0 Software. We've restored all of our files and it doesn't seem to work. We actually have two company files as we converted one file into another, however we are only getting the error in one of them. When we go into that company file, the error comes up, we can click okay and go about our business in Quickbooks. It's odd..... Every other instance I have read about where this error occurs, people seem to be locked out of their company files. I'm wondering if this a glitch in the software. Is there another fix? But moreover, my major concern is even if I back up the information that's currently being entered in QB everyday, when we finally do get this problem rectified will the information since the error began happening still be there?

Right-click the shortcut. Chose the "Properties" tab. Clear the checkmark on "Run the program in compatability mode..." Click OK

Yes it will re-occur. You are using software made by Intuit. This is what you should expect from software made by Intuit. Errors and sending them money to remove the errors. It is how they make their money after all.
