Help! Importing Accountants changes grayed out

Help!

I went to import my accounants changes and the selection is grayed? My accountant has never heard of this problem! I am using Quickbooks Pro

2004. It does say at the top of the file Accountants Copy does exist.

So I tried a couple of things, Made new backup, then created new accountant copy and still was grayed, then did a restore, still grayed. I even verified the data. Says it is Okay, so I did not do a rebuid.

Anyone have a solution for this?

TIA

Are all QB windows closed? Not sure if that would make a difference, or not. N Owen To reply, please change "ONE" to numeral

Yes, I have tried it both ways. Windows open and windows closed. It is still grayed out. This is really weird. Any other thoughts?

Well, I have a thought as to how it might have happened.

My guess is that at some point someone in the company 'needed' to do something that was not allowed because the accountant's copy had been made. In order to do whatever it is they wanted to do, they 'cancelled accountant's copy'

Not sure if it would work but you COULD try making a new accountants copy. At that point you MIGHT be able to load the copy the accountant sent you. If QB has proper data protection in place, the program may reject the old accountants file. In that case your accountant would have to duplicate the changes in the new copy you created.

Does the Quickbooks user account that you are using have administrator or full rights in Quickbooks? Are you in single user mode?

Just a couple of thoughts.

Lisa,

All I did was enter some transactions. QB says that you can do that as long as you don't delete some accounts. I did try to create another accountants copy and it is still grayed out. Looks like I may have to enter everything by hand.

If there are any other thoughts, please share. Thanks everyone for your help.
