This just started happening I enter a check info and the blue record button won't work.
I have to quit and it asks me if I want to record.

I'd chalk it up to the overall extreme bugginess of the Mac versions. Try quitting & relaunching QB.
What is the deal with Quickbooks tech support. Can I acturally talk to someone about this?

I don't know. I only ever called them once about a Mac version and I couldn't understand the person on the other end for the most part. His accent was too strong. He kept misunderstanding and/or repeating my questions so I just gave up. I do remember being told to go to a specific area of QB but I had to point out to Tech Support that the area in question doesn't even exist in the Mac Version. QB for Mac has gotten progressively better (I've purchased every upgrade hoping for better functionality) but it still has a fair number of bugs in the 2005 version.
I would suggest going to a Quickbooks for Mac message board, check the archive(s) and post if good info is not found in the archives. One is in the message boards at

Intuit has passed along the following issue and workaround relating to using QuickBooks 6.0 under Tiger:
Problem: When you are using the register for any account in QuickBooks 6.0 for Mac and you fill out the fields, the Record and Restore buttons do not highlight up as options that you can select.
