Quckbooks for Mac 04 weirdness

May 14, 2005 6 Replies

This just started happening I enter a check info and the blue record button won't work.

I have to quit and it asks me if I want to record.

Any ideas?

I'd chalk it up to the overall extreme bugginess of the Mac versions. Try quitting & relaunching QB.

What is the deal with Quickbooks tech support. Can I acturally talk to someone about this?

I don't know. I only ever called them once about a Mac version and I couldn't understand the person on the other end for the most part. His accent was too strong. He kept misunderstanding and/or repeating my questions so I just gave up. I do remember being told to go to a specific area of QB but I had to point out to Tech Support that the area in question doesn't even exist in the Mac Version. QB for Mac has gotten progressively better (I've purchased every upgrade hoping for better functionality) but it still has a fair number of bugs in the 2005 version.

I would suggest going to a Quickbooks for Mac message board, check the archive(s) and post if good info is not found in the archives. One is in the message boards at

formatting link
and the other is at
formatting link
which I believe occasionally has response from QB support. Sorry, I don't remember complete URL(s)... you'll have to follow a couple of buttons, but they are there... Jim

Thanks, that was good advice. Now I know I am not the only one.

Intuit has passed along the following issue and workaround relating to using QuickBooks 6.0 under Tiger:

Problem: When you are using the register for any account in QuickBooks 6.0 for Mac and you fill out the fields, the Record and Restore buttons do not highlight up as options that you can select.

Solutions:

  1. Go to the Edit menu and select Undo Typing or Revert. The options for 'Record' and 'Restore' are now available

OR

  1. After filling in all of the info for the register click the red X to close the register. You will receive a message "Leaving Transaction: You have not recorded the new transaction. Do you want to record it now?" If you click Yes then it will be recorded.

OR

  1. Do not use the register; use the actual forms (Write Checks, Deposits, etc.)

The question is will they fix it?
