Quickbooks 2007 one-time payroll update

I updated to quickbooks 2007 and tried to take one-time payroll update. It will not let me. Intuit wants another 199.00. Called support they said after December 14, 2006 there is no one-time payroll update. I guess I will be looking at microsoft smb accounting software.

This is directly from the licnse agreement on my QBP2007 CD

You will receive a one-time free update of the tax tables used to calculate payroll taxes. If you do not begin a subscription to Standard or Enhanced Payroll after receiving this update, you can continue to use the last payroll update you downloaded to the Software, but you bear all risk for any inaccuracies or penalties resulting from the use of outdated tax information.

Its the same as last year. The support person must be wrong Jeff

I had a problem getting the one-time tax table download when I first installed QBPro2007. It would not let me until I did a manual update to the program. After that, the procedure for getting the one-time tax table download worked fine just as it has in previous versions.

Be aware, unlike previous versions, 940, 941, W-2s, etc. no longer display, calculate or print! Intuit is determined at getting their recurring revenue, program functionality be damned!

Intuit changed their tax table policy way back in 1999. For the last 7 years (Versions 1999 to 2006) Intuit offered one free tax table down load plus full use of tax forms when the user upgraded to their newer and better version of QuickBooks.

Thank you Intuit for the free ride over the past 7 years. I realize that the forms are no longer available for 2007 but I am not upset. I refuse to be a pig about it.

It certainly was great while it lasted but all good things must come to pass.

Not exactly free, I pay approx. $150.00 every year.

You can get the forms for free from the IRS...

So would it be too much to ask for that $150 spent to get spreadsheet calculations and filled return forms in exchange? And the IRS forms aren't free, we pay for them.

The 150.0 is for a new a better version of the program. Tax free tax tables and forms were a gift.
