Crash when accepting downloaded txns into Quicken. Lost transactions. How to recover?

I'm posting this only to address one specific request by the original poster, namely:

"It would be nice if Quicken supplied a utility to do this conversion from Excel. I lost some bank transactions last year for a different reason and had to go through a similar conversion."

[As already noted by a Quicken employee, that is not likely to happen. Quicken has, over the years, reduced their support for QIF files; I don't see them increasing that support - and if they did, they should concentrate that improvement on how Quicken processes QIF files ... not how to convert non-QIF files to QIF files.]

But no new Quicken feature is necessary to convert Excel files to QIF files; there is already a free Excel Add-in to do that. It called "xl2qif" and you can Google for it. Or go here:

Once you have the correct data in Excel, in the correct format, xl2qif will convert it to QIF file format.

[I don't know what product the original poster was using to convert from Excel to QIF, but here is one that may help (I know the developer, but have not tested the product):

It does cost $17.00, but I believe that is a one-time cost; and certainly worth the money, if you're having problems like the original poster in the above linked discussion.]
