How do you download two different Vanguard funds with same account number?
Found at:
- selecting the appropriate transactions
- formatting the selected transactions
- Sending the selected/formatted transactions to Quicken
Quicken "receives" the selected/formatted/sent transactions.
Second: As noted by user Chris_QPW: Quicken identifies securities by their CUSIP number; NOT by any financial institution "fund" and/or "account" number.
The first time Quicken sees a security it does not recognize in a download, Quicken offers the user the option to create a "new" security in Quicken, or to "match" the downloaded security to an existing Quicken security.
If the user mistakenly allows a downloaded security to be matched to an existing Quicken security, thereafter it will appear as if the two securities are one.
I believe it likely that the op has allowed Quicken to match a downloaded security to the wrong existing Quicken security. The fix for that is simple:
- Edit the two securities in the Security List (*)
- Uncheck the box "Matched with online security" (for each security)
- Go to Tools > Online Center
- Select the appropriate Financial Institution and account
- Select the Holdings tab
- Click the "Compare to Portfolio" button
- Match each security to the correct Quicken security
[ (*) If there is only one of the securities already defined in Quicken:- Edit that security in the Security List
- Uncheck the box "Matched with online security" for that one already defined security
- Go to Tools > Online Center
- Select the appropriate Financial Institution and account
- Select the Holdings tab
- Click the "Compare to Portfolio" button
- Match the correct downloaded security to the Quicken security whose "matched with online security" box was unchecked above
- ADD the other downloaded security to Quicken]
[On May 11, 2021 @ 3:06 pm, SuperUser markus1957 made basically the same suggestion I have made - but it is not necessary to wait until the next download to get the downloaded securities matched to the correct Quicken securities, if you use the approach - Compare to Portfolio - I specified above.]
