How to add my Vanguard 401k account?

Contrary to the original post, the URL seen when setting up a Quicken account for downloading, plays absolutely NO part in setting up downloading or actually downloading. That URL is NOT a "link offered to associate" as claimed by the original poster.

[The URL provided by the original poster as being the "correct" URL, will also NOT be used by Quicken.]

Users setting up downloads can, and should, ignore that URL and just continue with the setup process - which means: click the "Next" button ... at which point the same URL will appear again ... and will still not be pertinent. [Instead of clicking the Next button at the first opportunity, the user may click the "Advanced Options" link, which just gives the user the option to pick the "Connection Method" (both Direct Connect and Web Connect are available for Vanguard investment accounts - Direct Connect is the default), then click Next to finish the setup process.]

[The exact same URL (investor.vanguard.com) appears when I setup any of my Vanguard investment accounts, which include a regular brokerage, a traditional IRA and a Roth IRA. That URL (like the phone number appearing below or alongside it) is solely for the purpose of contacting the financial institution - the URL and the phone number are known as "Contact Info". The same URL (and the phone number) that appears when activating an account for downloading, can also be seen for any account already setup to download, by going to Tools > Online Center, selecting the financial institution/account, then clicking "Contact Info" in the Online Center menu row. There is also a button there to allow the user to logon to the financial institution web site.] [For those interested, the same URL and phone number can also be found in the current fidir.txt file for Vanguard (the comparable URL and phone number can be found for every financial institution in fidir.txt). In Windows 10, the fidir.txt file can be found at C:\ProgramData\Quicken\Inet\Common\Localweb\Banklist\CCYY\fidir.txt. The fidir.txt file is a tab-delimited file, which can be opened in Excel. If you open fidir.txt in Excel, the Contact Info URL is in column E and the Contact Info phone number is in column F.] [The mistake by the original poster in the above discussion has been made by many other Quicken users. Quicken might reduce the number of mistakes made in this regard by putting some descriptive text where the "Contact Info" appears when setting up accounts for downloading.] [Last Community post: 04-25-21 11:18 am]
