I'm using Q2005. For the last month or so, all downloaded transactions have the category as "Split". Any ideas on how I can stop this from happening? As it is now, I need to clear the "split" designation before I enter the correct category and it's 3 wasted mouseclicks per transaction.

Check your Memorized Transactions list. You may have an entry in there with splits, that's being used to allocate all of your new transactions.
Make that the Memorized Payees list, at least in Q2006. I think at one point it was called Memorized Transactions, but I'm not sure when it changed.
Control-J and Control-T call up these functions as always.
