Attaching .pdf copy of bank statement

I scan copies of my bank statements into PaperPort 9.0 and save it as a .pdf file. When I go to Quicken to "attach" a copy of the statement, I use the "browse" feature to find the statement among my PaperPort documents, but when I click "OK" to add the attachment, I get an error message that I need to use a valid file name! What am I missing?

Have you tried renaming the statement (try something like stmnt.pdf) and attaching it? It could be that Quicken isn't playing friendly with long file names (they've only been around for ten years, after all...).

When I download account statements from or bank the name automagically filled in is something obscure, an alpha numeric mix, .pdf. I always rename the file with the Quicken account name for the statement + the date, and save it to a folder where my Quicken data is stored. (i.e. Mike&Elaine 11 05 2005.pdf) Like you I "browse" to the folder/statement and it imports as I expect.

In the Import dialog make sure that Statement is selected (Radio Button) and not Other Document. Also like Christian suggested change the name of the scanned document to something meaningful.

Changing the name of the scanned file worked. Thanks.
