Duplicate transactions

Quicken 2008 H&B - Elan Credit Card Services

One of my credit cards frequently downloads duplicate transactions. The website says they support Web connect but the first time I imported the downloaded file it configured Quicken for Direct connect. I no longer have to download the transactions, etc because Quicken now does it automatically. It works fine except that I end up having to delete the duplicate transactions.

Any ideas as to how to prevent this from happening?

thanks, Laura

Same thing was happening to me with Charles Schwab a few months ago. I just deleted the duplicate transactions as they appeared. Schwab finally fixed the error, so I suspect it's up to Elan to fix the problem. As an aside, are you really connecting via Direct Connect, or is it Express Web Connect?

According to the file, it is Express Web Connect. Is that part of the problem?

yeah, I have been deleting the extra transactions but it sort of defeats the purpose of automatic updating.

No, Charles Schwab was definitely Direct Connect. I think you may just have to be patient till Elan sorts it out on their end. If you haven't already, let them know they've got a problem. Express Web Connect is still MUCH more convenient than standard Web Connect, so I'm going to have to look at Elan cards now ;-)

Thanks. I will give them a call and let them know there is a problem.
