EmigrantDirect & OSU

My Emigrant Direct savings account doesn't see much activity, so I've always reconciled & updated by hand. But now that web connect is better integrated into OSU with Q2007, I thought I'd give it a try. I got an error that due to a problem with the Quicken server, it's not working, Intuit is aware of and working on the problem, and that my FI cannot help with this particular issue.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has gotten this to work. Are you using your user ID or account number? Note that the account numbers changed when ED upgraded their software a couple weeks ago.

No biggie, just curious. :-)

Thanks and Regards,

Margaret

Margaret:

I have 7 FIs I'm downloading via Express Web Connect and One Step Update.

All of them, and Citi (including AT&T, Quicken) are down this AM.

I don't have an ED account, but I expect that nothing will work with Express Web Connect till the Quicken servers are back up.

I don't know this for a fact, but my understanding is that the Quicken servers do the screen scrapings (like Yodlee and Fidelity's Full View) only once a day for Express Web Connect accounts.

That means regular Web Connect is up-to-the-minute real-time, but Express Web Connect is one day behind.

Thanks Bob, I've noticed that Citi is down right now, but Chase, Discover and my credit union are working. I'll just check tomorrow. Thanks so much for the info!

Margaret,

I can get OSU working with EmigrantDirect, until the next day when ED changes the login question. That kills the OSU connection. If, though, I use the "Update Now" button within the ED account, it will prompt for the correct login question, and store the answer. Then OSU will function OK again until the next login question rollover.

Or you can turn of ED login questions entirely. Just go back to user id and password. That is your choice.

Where does one do this? Today I managed to set up express web connect and got prompted by the current security question, successfully downloaded a few transactions. I've looked in the PIN vault (now password vault in QP2007) and in my account on the Emigrant Direct web site, also account details and online settings for the account within Quicken, but I can't see a way to disable the security question(s). Can you please tell me how you did this?

Thx and Regards,

Margaret

Login to your ED account via a browser not Quicken. Click on "My Profile" then click on "Security" and make sure "enhanced security" is turned off. You'll no longer have to answer all those questions and you'll be less secure but probably secure enough. The latest thing the crooks use to steal from you is keystroke catchers. So they sneak a small piece of software onto your system and it catches all your keystorkes and sends them back to the crook. I always use roboforms which fills everything in for you automagically so keystroke catchers are useless ..... just in case one is lurking on your machine.

One note to my last post. ED will still randomly ask what day, or month, or year you were born even when you turn enhanced security off. So I'm not sure turning off enhanced security will buy you anything come to think of it.

Yes, this is how it's working for me. Now if only the regular OSU process would prompt for that question, it would be fantastic. But at least there's some progress here. :-)

Thanks and Regards,
