I have Quicken 2005 running on a Mac Mini OS X 10.4 with an HP 2110. When I print something like a transaction report the negative amounts print in red (actually a washed-out rust color). How can I get them to print in black? I engaged in an on-line chat with a Quicken person and was told that that's the way it is so I would have to live with it.

How about setting your printer properties to monochrome for this report?
Jim: Could you lead me down the path to this selection. I sure can't find it.

Ed: First, I am a Windows XP user with an HP 5510, but I will offer some suggestions anyway since printer drivers should be similar.
- Select the report you want to print and there should be a "print" icon on the page. Click the "print" icon and a dialog box should open. From here you should be able to select "Properties" or "Settings" or "Advanced" or some other choice to get you into your printer driver choices. For my HP
- If this does not work for you, you may have to access your printer driver directly from your OS. Then you should be able to set color or gray scale options. This method, however, will set your default options for all print jobs until you reset it. Suggest you check your HP users manual for how to set printer driver options. HP tech support by phone or Internet may be able to help, however, there is a charge for phone help. Good luck, Jim Orson...
No! You don't say! A charge for phone support? Outrageous I say. Next time buy a printer from a company that is willing to give free phone support to its user base. ;)
Mike, HP offers free phone support during the warranty period. I have never had a problem with an HP printer that was out of warranty either at home or at work for over 20 years. They are reliable machines IMHO and the only reason I have ever replaced one is to get new features, speed, etc. The OP OTOH has an operational issue with using the printer with Quicken and if he can't solve it himself (using the owners manual or the extensive online help), I simply wanted him to know that HP could/would charge for phone support. I personally don't need or want the OEM hand holding and I think that the people that do should have to pay for it (after a reasonable warranty period). An extended support option paid for by the user would also work. Yet another option is to increase the price of new printers to pay for "free" unlimited live phone support, which then affects me adversely. Jim Orson...
I guess you missed the winky face in my post. I don't disagree with you. Just that a great number of posters to this newsgroup wants free support from Intuit.
I found a fix for my problem, but it seems to be Apple/Macintosh specific so I would go into the details (something to do with a Quartz Filter). Thanks for your help.
Hmm... I thought that was just a semicolon and a right parenthesis or perhaps a smudge on my screen. ;) Jim Orson...
