Quicken 2006 Printer Problem

This has been verified by Quicken tech support-- Quicken 2006 Premier won't print to my hp printer (an officejet series d) that is connected through the USB port of my laptop. It works fine with another hp printer (an older laserjet model 4P) I have connected to the printer port of my laptop. I have made sure that the officejet works with other programs just fine. I had no such problem with Quicken 2004. The tech support guy says that Quicken printing will not function through the USB port--which is ridiculous!!--I was just lucky that it worked with my Quicken 2004 version. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

I am running Quicken 2006 Premier and have an HP DeskJet 5740 connected via USB. ...And this very moment, it successfully printed my Net Worth report. QP2006 printed just fine to a USB-connected Epson injket till it died a month ago, necessitating my purchase of the HP. Clearly that tech support person was loopy, if they really told you that Quicken will not print via USB. Now did they qualify that statement by saying that Quicken won't print via USB on a particular OS? I'm running WinXP Pro SP2.... Really, though, applications should just dump their print job out to the OS, which talks to the hardware via drivers and makes everything work. It shouldn't matter how your printer is connected.

Margaret

Hmm, I use 2 printers -- a laser printer connected to the parallel port & an hp photosmart connected to a usb port. Both print just fine w/qkn 06p. I have had multiple report problems but no printer problems.

I know this is a bit late, but what you're saying makes no sense. Quicken should not care HOW the printer is connected. Windows takes care of that. Now, what exactly is the symptom (which you have conveniently managed to leave out of your post). Does a job get spooled to the printer? Does anything print? I assume you have verified that OTHER programs can print to the USB printer??

For what it's worth - after upgrading Quicken Deluxe 2005 to R4, the printer hangs trying to print multiple pages of checks.

It's fine if I print one page (three checks) at a time.

It was fine before R4.

I have an HP >This has been verified by Quicken tech support--
