Printer Problem--multiple copies

I have been using PT ver 7.0 with WinXP since year 2000 and have never experienced any print issues with my old Mod HP 1100 printer. I am using a USB 2.0 port.

I recently replaced the printer with a Brother HL 2040 and now when I wish to print an invoice, the new printer receives a command to print as many as 238 copies--never 10 or less.

Any help short of buying a PT update would be appreciated.

Some of the printing problems with PT can be resolved by changing the printer drivers. Check for the latest version or drop down to a lower model. I would also check the invoice template to make sure that the number of copies has not be stored there by accident.

The problem stems from using a new printer with old software, especially V7. If changing the printer driver doesn't help, your only option is to upgrade PT. The newest versions handle newer printers much better.

I have a Brother HL1440 that doesn't work with a lot of software. It won't print more than one copy with MS-Word and won't print the proper direction on some documents. Brother doesn't answer their tech support questions and there is no help from them at all. The warranty is useless because Brother doesn't stand behind what they sell. Installing the latest drivers, changing values in the registry and other trial and error hasn't worked either. I'd scrap the printer instead of the software. Next time I'll get an HP like I had last time. The HP printer worked with all software I ever ran across.

Interesting . . .

We have a Brother HL-1440 that we've used as our check printer since we were on PT v8 - it's been an absolute tank. It's slowed a bit with age, and our check volume has increased so I'd really like a new check printer . . . I just have a hard time replacing something that is still working perfectly . . . if it would just up and die already :^)

We have the same printer and so does our property manager. Neither one of us has had any problems printing checks, invoices, ms word, excel, pdf files and other documents with it. I even have mine networked so that I can print to the printer upstairs in the master bedroom while downstairs on the laptop. I did not have to change any values in the registry and I used the software that came with the machine when I did the install. No tweaking required. I bought this on printer to replace an HP laser printer that was over 15 years old and I have not regretted that I purchased it. Sure its not supported anymore but I don't expect any problems with it.

To each his own, I guess. As far as I'm concerned, the Brother HL1140 is the printer from Hell.
