Q2007W kicks me out when I try to delete a view, or click on a tab

Sep 17, 2006 3 Replies

Quicken shuts itself down when clicking on:

Snapshots from the main toolbar. Then if I click on the "View 1" tab, I get booted. An error message appears, but is gone in an instant; making it impossible to read that message. Also get booted by trying to delete a newly created "View 3" tab, also with the same fast error message.

The "Home" and "First Page" tabs work fine.

Other than that, no problems with the installation and conversion of Q2006 data. Did the install yesterday.

Thanks for any ideas.

I was able to get a snapshot of the error message. It reads as follows:

"Quicken has encountered a problem and needs to close. You may lose the data you recently entered. We're sorry for this inconvenience. You can look at the error report that Quicken created about this problem, then chose to send it to Quicken through a secure SSL Internet connection. The process is private and fast. The report will help us imrove the Quicken product. Click HELP for more details about this problem and to review information about our privacy policy. VIEW REPORT Error code 6989.

(send) (don't send)"

LIke I mentioned, the screen flashes by so quickly, there is no opportunity to click on anything. Thanks for any more thoughts.

I had a similar problem with Q2005, though I did not determine that there was any underlying error message (makes sense to me that there would have been, I just never saw any sign of it).

Despite my certainty that it had to be data corruption, I finally fixed the problem by reinstalling Quicken. If you attempt that, you may want to use "qcleanui.exe" on the Quicken CD to uninstall Quicken (have it check for remnants of Q2006 while you're at it.).

Thank you John, will try a reinstall this week.

Regards.
