Quicken 2009 install

Hi,

I just got the message that downloads for Q2006 Deluxe will no longer be supported after April. I have been price shopping, and when I looked on Amazon, the reviews are terrible! Most revolve around bad or impossible installs.

Any unbiased advice here?

Thanks

Keep in mind that far more people complain about things than praise them. Impossible installs tend to happen on systems that have been heavily modified or are severely underpowered.

I've used most versions of QD in the past 10 years and not had any problems.

Hard to guess what 'unbiased' means. Generally unhappy folk are more motivated to complain whereas happy folk just go on with things, so you'd expect to see "user" reviews kind of biased toward the bad. I mostly take those less as real evaluations but as warnings [of things that can/might go wrong].

Anyhow, I recently upgraded from Q2006B to Q2009D and I can report two things: 1) in a lot of years of using quicken, this is the *first* time I have ever had _no_ issues whatsoever in the upgrade. Q2009 installed without a problem, and everything came up without a hitch. 2) I like Q2009 -- I haven't [and probably won't] use any of the 'D' functionality [I don't even know exactly what it is: I've used 'B' for over a decade and it does what I need so I haven't looked much at its other capabilities]. AND [as I just posted in a recent thread] q2009's online capabilities are a lot nicer than 2006's were: two banks that I was never able to use "online" before are both now happily "one step update"ing.

I had the same situation. I took advantage of the $20 off directly from Quicken and upgraded to Q2009 Deluxe.

I downloaded and installed the software with no issues. It converted the data file with no problems and I can download from my bank (Wells Fargo) and Amex ans quotes with no issues.

I am running XP Pro SP3 on a newer self-built machine.

I don't recall ever having an upgrade or conversion problem going from one version of Qkn to another. (I don't upgrade every year.) I just upgraded from Q2006Dlx to Q2009Dlx (CD). The whole process went without a glitch. My file[set] was automatically converted and I'm up and operating on Q2009.

The only issue with which I took exception was the duration of the registration. It seemed to get stuck for an inordinately long period of time - but I got over it.

The difference in the GUIy doesn't bother me. I'm sure I'll be able to adjust it and I'll get used to it otherwise.

I've already enjoyed one benefit of the upgrade. The Express Web Connect setup my HSBC Accounts so they're now part of the One Step Update - that's a good thing!

=================== I had absolutely no problems installing Q09. Have it on both PC and laptop (different operating systems) and both installed and updated smoothly.
