Reinstalling Q2006 without media?

Jan 16, 2007 6 Replies

I'm considering buying a new laptop soon.

Having read in this group about Q2007 problems, I'm skittish about upgrading. However, having recently moved, I know that even if I kept the original install media (which I doubt), it would be buried in a box in my basement, and unfindable.

Is there any way to install Q2006 on my new laptop without the CD?

In the New Account wizard, there is no choice for making a 401k account (using Quicken 2006 Basic). Thanks.

Actually there are a couple of ways:

1) if it has a network adaptor, and you have another computer with a network, you should be able to address the program, to download into your new computer. or 2) IF you know anyone with a Backpack CD Re-Writer (or similar), these give any computer access to a CD ( Some work on the serial port, some are USB compliant). You might check with some computer tech's in your area. It should also be able to download as a file (but, this would be SLOOOOW)! As info, Jim

Well, f*ck you very much.

I called Quicken. They looked up my name and address, and sent me a link to download the install .exe.

You think you got a wrong answer, and this is your response?

Sayonara jerk.
