Scrambled Portfolio

Weird problem in Quicken 05 for Windows XP: the entries (stocks) in my Portfolio are now listed in reverse alphabetical order. This happened suddenly after I split the screen with an Excel file to copy data between the files. First the Portfolio window grayed out and when it came back it was reversed.

There doesn't seem to be any control over how the Portfolio entries under each Portfolio account are displayed. The accounts themselves are still in normal order. The securities are displayed in correct order in my Securities list.

My only available backup is a few days old and I'm hoping to find a fix before restoring it and losing some recent data.

Any suggestions on recapturing alphabetical order in Portfolio? Thanks.

Click on whichever column heading you want to sort by (in your case, 'Name'). Clicking again will reverse the order.

Hi, Art.

As in most places in Windows...

Click in the header of the column you want to sort on ("Name" in the Portfolio window). If they come out Z-A instead of A-Z, just click it again.

Quicken doesn't bother showing us the little triangle pointing up or down, as Outlook Express, Windows Explorer and many other programs do, so you'll just have to click and click again until you find which arrangement you like best.

Aha--beautiful! Don't think I ever needed to do this before in 10 years of using Quicken. Many thanks to RC and vcard for the tip.
