Silly question- Pasword Recovery?

Sep 06, 2011 11 Replies

greetings all

Back in '05, I found quicken 2005 so compelling that I considered nothing better. But I did "upgrade" to '08 in order to track investments. Which has gone away again. Such is the crippleware that Intuit now sells.

But, I need to look at some old accounts, to try and find the dates of some transactions. But after six years of not using them, I have forgotten the passwords. Is there some way I can either recover the passwords, or get those files "cracked"?

A quick search of the internet yields:

Quicken is pleased to unlock my accounts, if I use a supported version. In other words, my data is hostage to my buying another upgrade.

Fnord. Later.

You can find cheap copies of Q 2011 on eBay.

Are they authentic?

I've bought Quicken on eBay, every other year, for several years now.

That the built-in registration process goes thru without hitch, is sufficient evidence for me to believe that they're authentic.

I'd guess they'd have books about Quicken! :-)

Sometimes it has software. If you're not in a rush for the latest bloatware ... sometimes you can find it.
