One Step Update not finding linked account

Sep 06, 2011 1 Replies

Using WXP, and QW Premier 2011. Currently using Web Connect to manually download credit card transactions from a bank. It is the only account at that bank. After a prompt to activate One Step Update to automate this process for the account, I enter the ID and password and the activation goes well. On the subsequent OSU session, the resulting download does not find the linked account that was activated, and offers to set up a new account; the existing credit card account in Quicken is not in the dropdown dialogue box. I then cancel, deactivate the OSU for that account, going back to manual download. Here's my dilemma: Accept QW prompt to try and add the new account, but I've got 6 years of transactions in the existing account that I'd like to keep within any new account. I shutter to think about adding, renaming, moving transactions and whatever gymnastics would be necessary to make it work, and if it still has problems, undoing all the possible mess that might have been started. Maybe just best to continue to use Web Connect.

Thoughts are appreciated. Pierre

It's been a while since I had to do it, but I think you can "reset" online access to that account.

My recollection is that you have to turn online access off entirely (not just OSU), then turn it back on & configure it for OSU/direct connect.

But beware, you'll re-download however much history your FI retains. You won't delete xctns from your register, but you'll probably need to delete just about everything that shows up in the downloaded xctn area that shows up after you do the initial OSU.

Still a PITA, but not as bad as a whole new account.
