Subscription Pricing & older versions

There has been lot of talk about Q's new subscription pricing for 2018. I think I understand it, but how does this impact older versions?

In the past, after 3 years, the online functions (transaction downloads, bill pay etc) stopped working. Is this still true? Will I be able to use Quicken 2017 (USA, Windows) until 2020? Or do I have to upgrade to 2018?

Thanks

Yes. It is still true.

The only functionality you lose is the abil/lity to do online transaction downloads. Everything else will continue to work fine (unless something breaks due to a Windows update).

Actually, in addition to downloads, you also lose free support from Quicken itself.

I don't do downloads, and my last upgrade was from Q1999 to Q2016, due to a computer upgrade and change to Windows 10. I probably could have gotten Q1999 to work properly, but maybe not, and my time is worth something.

But, prior to that Q1999 was just fine. I do like some of the changes to Q over those years, but I doubt I will upgrade again for many years.

Thanks. Looks like I'll keep Q 2017 until 2020 or they annouce some great new feature.

I used to update every three years, and had 2015 Deluxe. Then this subscription thing came along so I just got 2017 Deluxe. I'm good until 2020.
