TTax doesn't print all forms

as far as i can tell, the most that TTax will print is your return (for filing) plus worksheets and supporting details. the "return (for filing)" means *only* those forms that are required to be filed. for example, if you fill out Schedule A but TTax determines that the standard deduction is greater than your SchA itemized deductions, then it will *not* print SchA to PDF, nor will it allow a hardcopy print of SchA (it does not show up in the list of forms to choose for printing).

assuming this isn't just some quirk in my setup, is there any way to get TTax to print *all* the forms i filled out, even if they are not required to be submitted to the IRS? SchA is not the only form i want to print, i also want 4952 and maybe others. these forms have legitimate data that i want to capture for reference purposes, even though they might not be required to be filed.

I don't think there's any way to get TurboTax to print all the filled-in forms as a batch, but if you are using a desktop version (not the web), you can open any form using Open a Form and print that form, even if there is no data on it at all.

I haven't used TT in a few years, but I'd be surprised if you can't do this now.

If you select FILE>PRINT, you should get a window with 3 general options that say something like: Print a copy for filing; Print a copy for your records; Print selected forms. There are options (in that window, I believe) to "print all worksheets and supporting docs".

thanks! this does work, sort of. it allows me to print a copy to my physical printer or a file, but not to PDF using the builtin PDF printer of TurboTax. it's not ideal (i'm trying to minimize paper copies), but it's better than nothing. maybe i can try to find a freeware PDF printer to install...

surprise! ;)

i do get 3 options, they are:

1) Tax Return for Filing ... All forms required for filing 2) Tax Return for Your Records

-- Tax return only...Copy of tax return for your records

-- Recommended forms, worksheets...Tax return, only key worksheets

-- All forms, worksheets...Tax return, all worksheets, supporting details

3) Selected Forms...The forms you choose

-- Forms only

-- Forms plus supporting details

none of those options prints the SchA. i think the operative phrase is "All forms required for filing". i think it is only printing those forms that are required to be filed. even the "Selected Forms" option doesn't work because the non-required forms do not appear in the list of forms you can select to print. if this works for other people, please let me know, maybe there's something odd about my setup.

there was an earlier reply to my question saying to "Open a Form" and then do "File -> Print" to print the forms individually. this does work. it's a little tedious, but i can live with it.

I think the key thing is, go to forms, then when you select open form, there is an option for show my return, or show all forms. If you select show all forms, then you have access to every form and can do the print selected form method.

I think also in the top level form, there is check box to force turbotax to use sked a, even if you could beter use std deduction. Then I imagine it would print, but then your 1040 would be wrong.

doesn't allow "Save to PDF"

even if this works, there are other forms i also want to print, like 4952. i have filled out these forms and they do show up when i select "Show my return" but they don't print because they aren't required for filing. selecting and printing individual forms works, but not to PDF using the builtin TurboTax "Save to PDF" option. it does work if i install a separate PDF printer and print the individual forms to it. that's tedious, but better than the alternatives.

thanks to all for the assistance in developing this solution.

If you are really serious about "minimizing paper" a good PDF driver is a must.

has a very good one (the Docucom PDF Driver) for about $50, or you can find freeware drivers.
