TurboTax 2004 & State DCN

Apr 02, 2005 6 Replies

I filed federal & state electronically and a day later got confirmation of federal acceptance along with the confirming Document Control Number. A couple days later, I got confirmation that the state (NJ) had accepted that filing, but the variable for the state DCN was left blank. At this point, the option to check the status again is no longer functional.

I did find a reference somewhere in the help file that most state DCNs are the same as the federal, but I wonder if anyone can confirm whether it is normal for that field to be returned from TurboTax as a blank.

Thanks, Ron

I filed NJ last Sunday and still have not received a DCN number. Says it was accepted. I just checked and still no number. Jeff

I didn't use TT, but e-filed Federal and state taxes for two states. (My son is a tax resident of two states since he is in college out of his home state.) The first state was filed with the Federal return and has the same DCN. The second state was filed a few minutes later and has a different DCN.

confirmation of

Number. A

accepted that

Seems to be a NJ problem. My NY return was accepted and CDN number was issued within 24 hours.

According to a post in the TurboTax support forum, the NJ DCN is the same as the federal DCN. Here is a link to the post.
