Update Blocks Use!

Quicken 2013 just updated to v13, I believe, and when I restarted it, I got this error message:

Your system has blocked Quicken from accessing the following file(s)/folder(s):

  1. C:\users\username\AppData\Roaming\Intuit\Quicken\Log\qw.log.
  2. C:\users\username\AppData\Roaming\Intuit\Quicken\Data\QW.RMD.

You can fix this situation by doing the following:

  1. Go to the file(s)/folder(s) specified above and right-dick on the file/folder name.
  2. Select Properties, and then click the Security tab.
  3. Change the listed permissions from Deny to Allow.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Restart Quicken.

All of the listed permissions are "Allow"!

Is there a way to revert to the previous version?

Thanks.

Ended up uninstalling and reinstalling without updates.

For what it's worth, I upgraded to V13 this morning and did not have the problem you did.

Ditto, the problem may be with the OP's system rather than with the update.

What could be wrong with my system that causes a Quicken update to give a false error message?

I don't know, but the point of my message was to point out that the Quicken update did not cause the problem.

Isn't that always the case? There are very few problems that affect all users. Think about how many different operating systems Quicken runs on, and then about the versions of each.

SOME users are so rabidly paranoid, they have their security settings set so high that perfectly fine input is blocked.

Not the case here. When I checked the files the error message referred to, all permissions were "Allow".

Okay, please let us know if you find what caused the problem. \\

I noticed that I have three new directories

C:\QuiB55.tmp C:\QuiB66.tmp and C:\QuiB67.tmp

I suspect that there are from the canceled update (when you install, you must select "Install and Update" but you can cancel the update if you're quick.

I'm going to move them to another HD, and see what happens.

" There it says, "The Mondo Patch is just like a regular update, except when it updates the Quicken files, it updates all of them, if there are updates to the files or not, rather than relying on the system to update the files that had version change. This update also takes longer to install."

There's a link under "Alternate Mondo Patch".

I d/led it and installed it, but I still get an error message about qw.log.
