Installation Problem

I'm having a problem installing Quicken 2011 (Win7 x64). I'm getting the following message "Your system has blocked Quicken from accessing the following file(s)/folder(s):

  1. C:\Users\Ted\AppData\Roaming\Inuit"

I've checked the files and all show 'full control' although all the 'ticks' are grey.

I have removed al quicken files and folders and all 'Registry' entries and reinstalled (administrator mode) but still get the same error message.

I can find no information from 'Google' on how to overcome the problem although this error message is mentioned in some posts.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to procede?

?Hi, Edward.

I got that message - or one very similar - yesterday. I'm not very good with permissions and such and was not able to fix the problem using the Security settings. (They all looked right already to me.) And, since my Quicken program and data files are not in the default locations, I wasn't sure where to look for the critical files. Clicking on Quicken - icon, shortcut or Start menu - always produced the error. This was not a new Quicken install; I've been running Quicken for 20 years, and Deluxe 2011 for about 10 days now,

Then I remembered that my system had gone through a major update the day before, installing the Release Candidate for Win7 SP1. Installation of the RC required that I first uninstall the SP1 Beta that I had been running for a few months. The process took nearly 3 hours and several reboots were required; Although nothing seemed to touch Quicken directly, the churning of system files may have messed up something "under the hood".

So I used Windows Explorer to browse to my RC.QDF file and double-clicked that. Quicken started with my data file loaded - and has performed normally through several restarts since then.

Try double-clicking your .qdf file and see what happens.

Further to my earlier question I have reinstalled Quicken HAB 2010 and found it would not start. I cleaned the system of all traces of earlier Quicken installs reinstalled but it would not launch. Fortunately I had a system backup (Acronis) for a week earlier which when recovered allowed Quicken 2010 to work normally.

I then updated the system with the recent WIN7 x64 updates and again Quicken failed to start. From Google it appears that others have had the same problem but only with certain machines. In my case I have a laptop with Win7 x64 installed and all recent Win7 x64 updates which runs Quicken without problems.

There is a suggestion (Google) that the problem I am experiencing relates to 'net framework' but I( have the latest 'net framework' update installed, so for me, net framework appears not to be the problem.

I have since reinstalled my update and have Quicken working once more. II have about 5 win7 x64 updates waiting to be installed. I will try installing one at a time to try to find which of the updates is causing the problem.

I have run sfc /scannow which indicated a corruption but did not indicate where. A repair was made and an indication that a file, log named cbs.log was created. So far I have been unable to open this file to investibate what was repaired by sfc.

IUf anyone can shed some light on this problem I would appreciate some help.
