What country is Natwest based in?

I got a PIN notification from them today to tell me the new number for my card. I didn't ask for one, and wasn't expecting one.

One slight problem was that it didn't say anywhere which of the three cards I hold with them this PIN relates to, and it doesn't match the existing PIN for any of them.

So I called their Customer "Services" department to ask them. They said they couldn't tell me because I was calling from abroad.

Which country is home country to them? Obviously not England, and Scotland isn't yet a foreign country.

The customer service person you spoke to may have been based in India, so from his respect, you were calling from abroad ;-)

All Natwest Call Centres are in UK, if adverts are to be believed.

Were you calling using a telecom provider that presents an international caller ID? Or perhaps you rang on one of the geographic numbers provided as an alternative to 0845 for callers from abroad?

And he sounded english, which may not mean anything.

From an O2 mobile phone. Nothing unusual as far as I can see.

It just means it definitely wasn't a Scottish call centre.
