Withdrawing cash

I'm going to London tomorrow early. My lame solo card only allows me to withdraw 200/day from my current acc, If I need to withdraw more money is it possible to withdraw from *any* HSBC with my cheque book/card at the counter?

A few banks increased their daily limits to 500 recently. It may well be that they told customers somewhere amongst the discounted insurance offers and wine club news, but I only found out when I phoned my branch up to ask what ID I'd need to cash a cheque.

I withdrew 800 from my HSBC account simply by writing a cheque out to "Cash" at the teller.

They dind't ask for ID, but they may do so take passport/driving liscense.

I bet you were at your own branch though. The OP said *any* branch.

No, it was not my branch. It was a city centre branch.
