Access Manager through VPN

Hi,



I setup a VPN with a Netgear VPN Router at the store and I want to access the SQLServer from a remote computer. I installed the NetGear VPN Client software on the remote computer and I can successfully connect to the store network, I can ping the computer running the RMS database and connect to the shared folders on that computer. The problem is that I cannot connect the RMS administrator to the sql server. It just does not find it.



Any ideas?

check the windows firewall on the machine that hosts the database to see if sql tcp port 1433 has been allowed to the remote network.

If you are using sql express 2005 you may also have the problem with this error: To connect to this server you must use SQL Server Management Studio or SQL Server Management Objects (SMO)
