Cannot install 1.3R - old version won't uninstall

Jul 20, 2006 2 Replies

I have tried everything - manually deleting the RMS directory, all registery keys, uninstalling MSDE & registry keys, you name it. I have searched Microsoft & the web for uninstall tricks I may not have known - and even found a few - but nothing seems to work.

When I try to remove Store Ops through the Control Panel, I get an error message about the source not being available. I have tried using every RMS CD I have as the source, but none are accepted.

At this point, I am completely stumped.

The PC is question is running Windows XP SP2.

I have successfully upgraded two servers, 4 POS terminals and 6 office/manager PCs. This is the only PC left and I would *really* like to be done with this project.

I will try that next time. I just finished going through the registry and (after a registry backup) using the Find function to find every instance of the word 'retail', confirming that the items I found were only associated with RMS and deleting them. It took quite a while, but it worked.
