Could not connect to the database at startup

Another annoying issue - when I put a shortcut to the POS program in the startup folder, a popup box says "Could not connect to the database". If I click OK and start the POS program, everything is fine (except for the previously mentioned Access is denied message). I suspect there is a timing issue as to what loads when.

Any suggestions?

Your pc needs the opportunity to open the connection to the database before the program launches. Ordinarily when you start up a pc the network connections are one of the last processes to kick in. If you have POS running on startup, it will do this before the network connection to the database is open which is why you are getting the error. I suggest that you go back to a manual start or set it up as a scheduled task (which is probably too exact to work), so if you turn on your machines at 8.55 for a 9am start, set the scheduled task to launch the program at 9am. Probably just as easy to manually start though.

I am resigned to having the Client and POS programs started manually at the store that PC is going to. What surprises me is that this PC is destined for a single lane store, so the store database is on the POS register PC. My last installation also included a store with a single lane PC and I never saw this issue occur there.

Thanks for your replies.
