Label Printer

Our business installed RMS recently, and in addition to the 2 POS 'registers', an additional workstation was added specifically to generate print labels. Obviously, this is taking up valuable counter space, but our IT guy has told me that we can't print labels using the workstations running the POS software, even though Store Operations Manager is also installed. Is this true?

This is incorrect.

What printer are you using?

I have set up sites with the Zebra label printers attached to one of the POS stations and then share the printer through windows and print from any workstation on the network.

Yes and No,

Is the label printer USB or Paralell? If its Paralell The question becomes do you have enough printer ports(LPT)? USB shouldnt be an issue provided you have enough USB ports. Any of the workstations can do labels provided the label file is on the workstation if you created a custom label. Its just configuration and having the necessary hardware.

FYI

If the label printer doesn't have an Ethernet port build in you can always add a print server to the label printer regardless if it's a USB or parallel label printer. You can get them for (way) under $100.
