UnKnown Error

I am getting a "Unknown Error" randomly come up on my Point of Sale machines when I finish a transaction and the receipt\cash drawer are suppose to be triggered. When this error comes up the cash drawer and receipt printer will not work until COM1 is uninstalled and the machine is rebooted. After the reboot they start working but then randomly the "Unknown Error" comes back up and we have to go through the same process.

Below is a list of what i have tried:

- Upped Virtual Memory to maximum

- Shut off Services that were not needed to free up memory

- Replaced printer cables

- Shut off programs from automatically starting up

- Checked the option in Manager to "Share OPOS drivers"

- Checked System and applicatoin logs - didn't shed any light on the problem

Anyone have any ideas to help me out?

Jeff,

Thanks, I checked this out and unfortunately there were no conflicts. Something else that i have tried is to turn off the FIFO setting under the advanced options for COM1. Everytime this happens I take a look at the system and applicatoin event logs and there is nothing in there that would explain what is happening.

I would love some more suggestions if you have them!!!

Thanks, David
