Q06 hangs on Internet Connection Setup

Start up Q06 Deluxe. Edit -> Preference -> Internet Connection Setup. Quicken hangs. Had to End Task in Task Manager. Is this also happening to anyone else?

I don't see the problem (Q2006, Premier). Do you have multiple connections defined in Windows? Could one of those connections no longer be valid?

What do you mean they are no longer valid? Quicken is not dialing those connections to see it can get a signal from the ISP. Can you define an "invalid" connection in Windows and make your Quicken hang? When Quicken hangs on that screen, it uses more than 95% of the CPU. Thanks.

I didn't say they "are no longer valid". I *asked* if you had any Windows connections that are no longer valid?

Do you know what Quicken *is* doing?

I am speculating, and I'm not planning on going a long way into testing my speculation.

If it were me and I had old invalid internet connections, I would delete them and see if that helped my problem, knowing that I wouldn't miss them anyway.

*I too have the same problem which appears on a DELL Inspiron 2200 wit

XP Pro. I also have an XP Home DELL 4700 running side by side usin same firewall, AV, etc. that connects and functions 100% wit Quicken06.

Have spent hours in online chat with Quicken help, exhausted help fro my bank's IT dept., and heard from DELL that I should seek third part assistance!

I tried going back to Q05 and that produces the same problem on th same machine while the other machine functions just as it should.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!* :confused

Just a hunch but have you checked the modem?

Some programs are fussy on how they connect to the internet. So re-check your settings and the firewall.

In XP check network connections - network tasks -change firewall settings -exceptions. Check to see if there is a program in exceptions called qagent if so make sure there is a check in its box. If it is not there, add it. If this doesn't work then tell Intuit that you are considering dumping their program and switching to MS Money, if it's still around.

Please upgrade these obsolete programs.
