2011 Deluxe OSU

I just upgraded to 2011 Deluxe. I have 2 files that I maintain. I updated one and noticed that the blue update icon kept spinning even after all accounts had "updated sucessfully". I spent about 10-15 minutes updating transactions in that file.

I then opened the other file and tried to run the OSU. I got a message indicating that OSU was still updating and to wait until the updating had finished before starting a new update run.

Anyone have an idea as to what was still updating in the first file and how to terminate it so that I can update the second file?

thanks, Laura

How about exiting Quicken, then restarting it.

That worked but I have never had this problem with 2008. I always update our file followed immediately with updating my mother's file.

Normally once Quicken was done updating each account the OSU was done. Not the case in 2011. Something else is being checked after the accounts are updated. Very strange.

I'll be updating my files shortly and see if the problem repeats itself. I'm not sure if the article applies to my situation. I am able to update all of the accounts. It looks like it is trying to perform another function after it updates all of the accounts but I have no idea what it might be. I will try reversing the order of the file updates that I run to see if it is file or software specific.

Is there a log file that gets created that I can check to see what is happening in the background? Maybe that would reveal something.

Take a look in C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Roaming\Intuit\Quicken\Log

Thanks. I found the log files but don't see anything that would indicate what caused the lag. I will be updating the files tomorrow and will make note of the times so that when I look in those log files I can zero in on the actual time it happened. That is assuming it happens again.

Two of them, actually.

In Quicken:

Help > Log Files > Connlog

Help > Log Files > OFXlog

The OFXlog has the data that was downloaded. Quicken will allow you to Save it to a txt file where it can sometimes be more easily investigated in Word. Connlog is already a txt file.
