are you charged for Quicken

I know that just about all the banks are charging some fee to use Quicken with the embedded 1-step update, but not if you choose to use the Web Connect option.

I happen to be grandfathered into Chase after several mergers. Not even sure if Chase has some offsetting balance for a waiver on the Quicken monthy fee of like $10.

Just curious if anyone is actually paying real money to use Quicken downloads.

I believe that Chase only charges for using their bill pay. I don't have any Chase charges for one step updates.

I don't know what got broken, but I had a fit when they suddenly started charging me. I got a refund but it was one-time, and I went to the local office to complain. Everything git settled, they said, but I will believe it when I see it. Your statement about bill pay suddenly rings a bell, because I think that's what I changed recently. I wil not reactivate that now .

Off to the pool with my grandkids now ...

Nope - I use a credit union and don't get charged. (Why I would ever use a bank and go through the horror stories I read about on this forum I just don't understand.)

Nope. Chase are bastards.

When I looked at the option, it said "You may be charged a fee. Contact your bank." So I called Chase, and the person said there is no charge.

Needless to say, 30 days later I was charged. Had one hell of a time getting the charge removed. 30 days later, I was AGAIN charged. They said it was the way the system billed. Got that charge removed. 30 days later, AGAIN charged. Was then promised that was the last charge, and had it removed. Not charged since.

I've been grandfathered with Chase (aka BankOne) for years. A couple times they have attempted to charge $9.95 for DirectConnect. It take a call or three to get them to back off. ;-(

I know of no bank which offers DirectConnect (not webconnect) for free - although I'm understand some do with a large minimum balance. I'm sure someone will chime in here and correct me. I'm looking forward to hearing 'cause Chase is starting to piss me off over this, and I'm a DirectConnect junky.

On an unrelated note: Chase/Marathon recently changed their 5% kickback credit card, so the 5% kickback (on gas) is only for one quarter of the year (other kickbacks are offered the other three quarters).... anyway, PenFed offers 5% back on gas at ANY station. WebConnect too.... sweet !
