Dowloading to Quicken for non-one-step-update synching

All accounts in my Quicken are able to be synched except for Citibank. They charge for synching and I don't think it's worthwhile. I only have a small number of transactions per month. Recently I decided to go to Citibank's site to see if there were alternates. The have a download facility. When you want to download, they allow you to select one of four options:

1- QFX (A Money option), 2=CSV (comma-separated fields), 3=QIF (Which I thought would be good for Quicken ), and 4=QFX (Web connect). I tried to download a QIF, but then Quicken gave me an error message, saying that importing of QIF files is no longer supported except on every other Thursday. I've heard of Web Connect, but cannot recall if it is useful nor how to use it.

What are my options here, short of writing down the transaction and manually entering it into Quicken? There is a rumor going around that computing has progressed to beyond that level.

Well, there's either a typo in your message ... or on the Citi website itself. Option 1 should read OFX, (not QFX). Money doesn't support QFX format.

Option 4 is the one you want. You initiate the download from the bank's website, and then import into Q. The QIF format hasn't been supported for most Q account types for years.

just a clarification on the Web Connect....

1 - Open Quicken, and let it idle. 2 - Go to your Citi online account. 3 - Initiate the download (option 4) 4 - You can either save it as a file, or apply it to Quicken. If you choose to apply, it will merely launch Quicken (already running) and read the downloaded file, just like in a 1-step download. 5 - Sign off the Citi account website. 6 - Continue with your Quicken, just like other downloads.
