duplicate credit card accounts

I goofed!

7 months ago one of my credit cards was replaced with a different number because the old one had been possibly compromised. I don't know how it happened but I now have 2 accounts in Quicken Deluxe 2016: one for the old number credit card and one for the new number.

The old Quicken account is static and no longer set up to download and the new one downloads fine and is up-to-date. But I noticed that some transactions are duplicated in both Quicken accounts because of the overlap causing confusing Quicken reports. How do I resolve this?

I need to "combine" the 2 Quicken accounts somehow or do I have to go, one by one, and delete the duplicates from the old Quicken account and then hide it?

Thanks for any help.

How recently did you create the new account? Do you have a backup taken just before that?

Because you can:

1) take another backup (make sure it doesn't overwrite that prior backup) 2) Disable download from the new card and then delete it 3) Edit that old account to remove the account number 4) Exit Q, and Re-start Q 5) Edit the old account to re-enable it for download.

The transactions that were previously in the new account should now download into the old (re-furbished) account.

The only possible hitch in this is if it's been more than a few months since that new account was created ... because most banks/cards/etc restrict the download to between 30-90 days.

4)

Why don't you just manually delete the duplicates in one of the accounts? There can't be that many.
