Moving one brokerage account between two copies of Quicken 2006?

I have been managing my daughter's UBS investment account for many years in Quicken. Now that she is going to be out on her own, I want to transfer the account information I have to her Quicken 2006 program from my Quicken 2006 so she has all the history etc.

The only "export" that I can find in 2006 is export addresses or "QIF" file. If I export the file and then try to import the file into her program. When I select the file for Import, it odes not let me select the UBS account I created on her computer. There is a warning box tat says certain types of accounts do not support "QIF" import and of course "brokerage" accounts are listed.

So how do I move the historical data for that account to another PC? Or am I up a creek?

I'm assuming your daughter already has a Quicken file of her own. If not, and you're starting a new file for her, I would simply copy your file and delete all the accounts that don't pertain to her. Then do another copy to clean up the file and copy the data set to her machine. If she already has a Quicken file of her own, you will indeed need to do the export/import thing. I will defer to someone more knowledgeable on that count, since I am fortunate in that I have not had to do it.

Margaret

Thanks Margaret! Yes she already is using Quicken for her Checkbook and Credit card so I need to move just one account into her program. If she were a new user, I could copy my file, open it in hers and delete all my stuff but she is an existing user.
