Opinions regarding Quicken 2006

Feb 14, 2006 4 Replies

I just started getting the infamous sunset message on my Quicken 2003 Basic, so obviously, I need to upgrade. Last year, I tried out Q2005 (or was it

2004...?), but was very unimpressed and uninstalled it (one issue for me was that it was all bright white with no way to change the colors. No sense in going blind while doing the books...).

So my question is:

What is the general consensus regarding Q 2006 Basic? Is it worth buying, or should I look for an older version on ebay ('04 or '05, whichever one isn't the one that causes snow blindness...), buying time and hoping Intuit gets it together?

Thanks for any input, Hark

I forgot the most important question. Awhile back, there seemed to be an issue with the transaction downlaod format. Is this still an issue? Will I need to check with my bank about formats and such?

Thanks again, Hark

I use Q06 Deluxe. I like it. Reports are much improved over earlier versions.

If you are talking about the inability to download QIF files, it's gotten more pervasive. If you *have* to have QIF imports, then you are stuck with Q04...

Thanks for the response, Hank. I went ahead and bought '06 deluxe on ebay ($19 new on ebay...what do I have to lose?), so we'll see. I should have mentioned I was referring to direct connect for credit cards and checking. After checking into it, I'm pretty sure I should have no issues.

Thanks again, Hark
