Q09 Prmr for Win Update knocks out Network on PC

Recently when I do an update on Quicken Premier 2009 for Windows it takes out all network connectivity on my PC. Does anyone have any thoughts how to keep Q from destroying the usability of my machine for minutes at a time?

I have no problem with Q08 on Vista Home Basic. Are you still running WinMe? Some more data would be necessary to even start thinking about what may be happening.

My guess is that something else is not set right. AV, firewall, or something close to that.

I have never run WinME.

Any thoughts to point me in the right direction? This symptom only happens when doing a Quicken Update.

The reference to WinMe was because the only thing you said was that you have a problem with Q09. No other info about your system, or network setup. How do you expect to get help?

AV, Firewall, network permissions, proxy, GKW.

Stop doing updates?

I can't help any more than this. With more info on setup maybe others can help you.

Extending on Han's reply a little bit ...

I'm running Q '08 H&B on a networked machine. The program and all the data are on my PC, but I use the network connectivity to download data, etc ... and I've had no problems whatsoever.

I'll speculate that my configuration is reasonably common, whether one's running '08 or '09 ... so the most likely explanation is that there's something specific to YOUR machine, or YOUR configuration that's causing the problem.

SO, unless you provide a whole lot more info, NO ONE's going to be able to help you ... unless they feel like playing "20 Questions" or their mind reading skills are much more advanced than mine.

From people that aren't snots about it.

Do you need to know the serial number on my CPU and my network card's MAC address? Do you need to know my gender and age? Maybe the humidity outside and the last time I ate? I have no flippin' clue what's relevant. I think Q09 Prmr for Windows is a darn good start for a first post. Next time I'll post my router's log file. Does that sound like a fair place to start for Quicken related issues?

Obviously from your response you believe the issue is not related to Q09 Prmr for Windows, but I am just guessing, since it's impossible to know what you are thining unless you post it.

Ik denk dat het makkelijker is voor je as ik in 't nederlands post:

Wat is je operating system? Wat is je firewall? Wat is je AV programma?

Dan, it has happened before that an upgrade (rather than just a download of data, unfortunately often called an OSU for one step update (of data)) has caused a breakdown of something not totally related to only Quicken.

However, I do agree that scotty has a different problem, and something else on his network broke. Without the data you and I asked for, no one will be able to help him. Even with that data I don't think I can help, in dutch or english. But others might be able to. Probably in some networking group.

You're the one making unproductive posts. Which you have a long history of doing. Which is why I have your posts flagged to be displayed in "puke green".

It's astonishing that you have the gall to insult those to whom you pose your questions ... you may be ignorant, but I'm sure you're not ignorant enough to think that anyone here owes you anything.

Your posts are not just simple insults (though they are definitely that); they conclusively demonstrate that you assume that you are owed an answer, and that those who commit the sin of asking you to provide more information to help them to help you ... are beneath you.

Puke Green is definitely your color.

Now I really feel sorry for scotty. Sometimes I can't understand people.

Good night, John.

After some creative Googling I was able to find others with the similar problems but slightly different manifestations of it. I posted this issue in the thread that had the most detailed knowledge demonstrated so it can be found by others in the future that has this problem. The problem is a Quicken 2009 Premier for Windows problem, but the circumanstances for it to happen are uncommon.

I'm glad you identified the problem. Now we'll have to wait until your latest post filters through the system. I just tried googling for the post you refer to above (" I posted this issue in the thread that had the most detailed knowledge demonstrated so it can be found by others in the future ..."), but I can't find that in a google group posting.
