Quicken 2014 stability

This is the first version of Quicken that I can remember being so unstable. It has crashed my entire system several times so that I was not even end task Quicken or any other application for a while. I'm not doing anythin g I haven't done before... in this case trying to enter a reverse stock spl it... (but the stock was both in an IRA and a brokerage account at the sam e firm, not that that should matter)... and Quicken went into a melt down. After I finally was able to exit out of it with end task, because it had stopped responding, Portfolio View was inaccessible when I restarted. Has anyone else running this version experienced these kinds of problems? I'v e never had this much difficulty with Quicken before, and WIN 7 has been a ble to handle any kind of malfunctioning application without freezing compl etely.

That's not my experience at all. I have no stability problems with it.

Glad to hear that. I had to resort to a backup to get things working at all. I'm almost afraid to try the stock split again.

I have been having stability issues as well, though only Quicken has been crashing, not my entire system (Quicken 2014 premier; Windows 7, 64-bit).

I will be in the middle of loading transactions from a file I downloaded from a website, and Quicken will just disappear from the screen. No error message or any other type of warning. Poof, it's gone.

There were numerous other times when a similar disappearance occurred but I do not remember the details of what I was doing at the moment. I'd say about 25 to 30% of my sessions with Quicken ends with Quicken crashing.

I do agree with the sentiment of your first sentence, Quicken 2014 is, by far, the most unstable version of Quicken that I've ever used. I described it to my friend as being "delicate".

I had some similar experiences and am backing up very, very often, wheneve r I seem to have a stable system. I think I created some of my own proble ms by trying to do a stock transaction incorrectly, but still, Quicken shou ld be able to kill me or itself gracefully. I also completely hung Qu icken when I decided to reconcile my entire brokerage register, which hasn' t been reconciled for years. I would guess it was a memory problem becaus e of the number of transactions. "Delicate" is a good word for it. It's been behaving in the last couple of days, and I'm just holding my breath. Normal "stuff" seems ok, but it really seems that the memory management con trol has suffered some.

The check-writing portion is a mess in Q2014. It looks like it was redesigned and /or rewritten. I have many crashes when I am in that area.

And the UI for the area has become more user-antagonistic, requiring more effort to do the same thing. The check-writing window has become a horror of complexity.

Sometimes, I get the feeling that Intuit is just doing work on Quicken for the sake of justifying a new version each year, and not to provide any new real customer-requested functionality.

I wish they would just fix the bugs, and stop changing the way features work just for the purpose of changing the way features work.
