register looks different today

I have Quicken 2004 Basic, release R5 and it's been working just fine. I may be losing my mind, but suddenly today my register looks different. I use a 2-line display, and before, there was a line between the two lines of each transaction. Today there are no lines there, just the lines between the transactions themselves. How could this have happened and can I fix it?

Thanks, Maxine

I don't see any "line" between the two rows in my Q2004 check register. What I do see is the the first row is shaded slightly differently than the second row, and in my case the difference in shading is barely distinguishable. Unlike other Quicken versions I have (such as Q2002 and Q2005), I do not find anyplace in Q2004 where one can change the register colors ... which might allow the selection of a color whose shading would be more visible.

I noticed what I think is the same problem John. In Q2007 Premier, between the current date area of the register and all other future transactions, there is indeed a thicker blue line that delineates the day. And the future transactions are indeed in a slightly different shade. In the past week, I too lost the thick blue line, but all of a sudden today it's back! Weird.

Maxine, is this what you're seeing (or not) as well?

I don't have Q2007, but op said about Q2004:

"I use a 2-line display, and before, there was a line between the two lines of *each* transaction. Today there are no lines there ..." [Emphasis added]

Ah, yes. Right you are on that.concerning a line BETWEEN each of the two lines of each transaction. OK - never saw THAT before. (My original situation about not having the bold line between end of today's date and future still does stand. That did occur!)

I guess it's not possible that during the past week, you had NO future transactions? At least not any that would be showing up in the register because it's too soon for them to appear?

You may have (unintentionally) changed the pointers in Quicken, when they did their last update! Am running 2006 Quicken, that I upgraded to "Premier Version. After adding their QA5 update, some features stopped working. Close examination showed that it had defaulted back to the Deluxe, or basic Version! After re-installing the code to get it back to Premeir, it started to function correctly, again! IF you did the enhancements, it is quite possible that their last update might be the problem. And these are features that YOU paid for! F.W.I.W. , Jim

Found the 'problem' (In case anyone cares, but I'm posting here for posterity and documentation purposes). The line between current date and all future dates disappears when one sorts by CLEARED status. Since most of my transactions were cleared to today (I write few checks and use mostly online transactions, so it was immediately obvious) I was looking at the register sorted by CLEAR STATUS. When I bring down the view by date entered, the line magically reappears, even though what is shown in that register view looks substantially the same, transaction wise.

User error.

Hey guys, I had the same issue and had to resort the register by date. Go to view and ensure it is being sorted by date. That should get back that thick line. I had the same issue happen when I resorted by Reconciled and noticed the line went away. When I resorted by date it came back. Hope this helps. I find that thick line extremely valuable too.

Happy New Year
