Requesting Help: Restoring Quicken Data

I've recently moved from Q2001 to Q2005 Premier Home & Business. The transition went fine until about a month ago when I was unable to do one-step-updates (for stocks only) without Quicken crashing on me. Right now I'm running R4 and have even gone through a re-install.

Running validate & supervalidate shows that I've got an incorrect file size for the .qdf file. Please let me know what I am to do about this.

Another thing I looked at was exporting my Q2005 data to a .qif file and then importing the .qif file into my older Q2001 program. The accounts are all screwed up - account names are fine but the actual account data is all screwed up.

I really need to preserve my original data file. It actually goes back almost 10 years with data.

Please post your suggestions to letting me know what I need to do to try to preserve my original file. BTW, I am able to add new data to my Q2005 file just fine but all attempts within the last 6 weeks to do a successful one-step-update without crashing have proven to fail.

Thanks. I'd really appreciate any help I can get.

I'm running WinXP Pro.

I was in the same position and decided to make a clean break and start over. The data from 15 years ago just wasn't as important to me as getting the balances correct for today.
