What is the little red flag

I am using Quicken Deluxe 2011 Release R 8 (20.1.8.6). I suddenly noticed a little red flag on one of my Quicken files. It is to the left of the list of my Quicken files/accounts. What is this, and how can I get rid of it? It does not seem to change, even when I move from one account to another. I noticed this morning when I opened Quicken that it showed "updating" when I logged on.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

That flag normally means an transaction update for that account has be downloaded and you would need to update the account to remove the flag.

Go to the account with the flag, look at the bottom of the screen and you should see "Bills and Income Reminders" with a number to the right of it - if that number is not "0", you have update(s) waiting. Click on it and you will see the waiting update transaction(s). You can update them then.

~~~~~~~~ Thanks. There was a reminder for download transactions, but it also required the name of my bank for financial institution. I do not want that to be attached to Quicken--I do everything manually. Is there any way I can delete this annoying "reminder"? There was also a new reminder in red showing an overdue payment. That makes no sense at all. I don't have any such payment, so I can only assume that Quicken is now trying to pick up on an old payment and listing that as some sort of continuing payment.
I have used various versions of Quicken for a number of years, and this is the first time I have run into this. I think I may have registered Quicken when I bought it, and that may be a source of problems since I do not want any of my accounts to be available online.
Can you help?
Thanks, again. MaryL
It means you either have a downloaded transaction or a bill/income reminder for that account. Look at the tabs below the register for the account that has the flag.
~~~~~~~ I do see a bill reminder, but it doesn't make any sense. It says "overdue" bill, but I don't have any bills that should be paid. This is the first time (after several years of use) that I have seen this type of notice. I can't correct it by "paying" the bill because there is no bill to be paid.

~~~~~~ I am *part way* to the solution, thanks to your suggestion. I said in my first reply that I do not have any bills to be paid (at least, none that fit the reminder). However, I then remembered that I tried to schedule an automatic monthly deposit--not an actual deposit into the bank account since I do that through the bank, but an automatic entry into Quicken. I already have several similar transactions, but I remember that I had a lot of trouble trying to find the location that I have used in the past. This payment fits the transaction I was trying to make.
I still have not found the page that I have previously used (and am not sure what term to use for it). That page permitted me to enter automatic transactions and it had an easy way to edit the amount, number of days for a reminder, etc. I did find a page that listed the "problem" bill, but it shows July for the payment. I manually entered a payment into Quicken. That took care of the red reminder.
Does this make any sense to any of you? I know it's an awkward description, but I would really appreciate it if someone can direct me to the page where I should enter automatic monthly payments.
Thanks, MaryL
Then go to TOOLS / BILL INCOME REMINDERS in the menu and delete it there...
~~~~~~ Thanks. I am going to do that, but I will wait first until July 17 (the date that now shows) to see if I made that error when I first *tried* to include this payment. The payment is actually a monthly deposit into a savings account. I already have several other similar entries, and they all show up correctly in Quicken. The one that showed the problem did not post automatically to Quicken, but it did show up as an "overdue" payment. I realize that I caused the problem myself, but I can't figure out what I did. In the past, I used a page that permitted me to list each each account, number of days for a warning, etc. I can't remember what that page was called, and I have spent a great deal of time going through all sorts of menus trying to find it. Can you tell--from this awkward description--what menu item I should use to get a similar page for this item?

Yes, follow the menus I descibed in the previous message:

TOOLS / BILL INCOME REMINDERS or just press Ctrl-J.

You can't specify number of days in advance by account. That's done when you create the alert. If you highlight a transaction in a register, you can also right click and select Schedule a Transaction which will prepopulate many of the reminder fields.
