Query on free TurboTax not working

I received a free TurboTax Basic in the mail, installed it, which seemed to go ok, including registration.

Then I tried to start. The start screen displayed but when I tried to start a return, TurboTax failed. I was returned to Windows.

This seems to be a TurboTax/Windows XP problem. Does anybody here know about this?

For the time being I uninstalled TT. My feeling is if Intuit can't get a distribution CD right, I don't want their product.

Thanks for the pointer. I looked, and there are several potential problems, Microsoft .NET being one among them.

I'm not taking the time or trouble to resolve the issue.

My copy of TurboTax Home & Business works just fine on a computer with Windows XP as the operating system. Maybe it was a bad disc?
