I don't think they're too awful. A couple of years or so back I was hit by a 'Q' reg LHD monster of an APV. No DL, no insurance certificate. Churchill spent 9 months trying to trace the driver, then finally told me that (a) they couldn't track them down, but (b) the case was being resolved in my favour anyway.

OTH, I've been hit twice this year by other drivers. One claimed I rolled back into him, and Churchill wanted to settle 50:50; I'm presently arguing over this. The other looks like daughter was driving daddy's car uninsured; Churchill have asked if I'm willing to take it to court to recover their costs (and my NCB and excess :-{ ); also still pending - 9 months in and counting. I feel they've been a bit slow, but maybe these timescales are typical in the industry.

Oh, and the CS accents are definitely understandable :-)

Probably the most refreshing post I've read in a long, long time.

Every word as true as it gets. Just a real shame more folk didn't have the bollocks to get up and say it - or do other posters actually enjoy speaking to these pigeon English Indians (who should incidentally be kept 3rd world IMO as their call-centre employment explosion will have a profound effect on global warming).

I have a successful company and pay out a bloody fortune to greedy banks at every single type of transaction. When I have to stomach speaking to them there's nothing worse than some half-baked Pakistani unable to converse with me on anything other than the weather.

I have now received my Churchill documents promptly. The premium was quite a bit cheaper than what I'm currently paying, but a little more expensive than Esure. However, the Esure web site didn't work for me, so I went with Churchill.

Next up: House insurance due soon! (Currently with the AA)
